Description
John Christian Schell (ca. 1730-1782) and his brother, John Schell (fl. 1782), brothers, emigrated from Baden-Baden, Baden, Germany, before 1755 and settled in German Flats or the Mohawk Valley, New York. There they purchased farms, married, and raised their families. John Christian Schell and his wife, Maria, had eight children, 1756-1773, all born at Schells Bush, New York. John Schell and his wife, Barbara, had seven children, all born at Schells Bush. John Christian Schell and one of his sons were killed in an attack by Torries and Indians in 1782. Descendants of John Christian and John Schell listed lived in New York, Ontario, Michigan and elsewhere.
