The Elgin marbles

Nineteenth century brown buckram binding with blind tooled plain borders and floriate decoration. Gold tooled letters and caryatid to spine. Pencil manuscript notations to rear. Includes 'Report from the Select Committee of the House of Commons on the Earl of Elgin's collection of sculptured marbles' (p.137-151). Bookplate inside front cover: 'This book is on deposit loan from the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts.' Trade label of bookseller at 101 Buchanan Street, Glasgow inside front cover (name now obscured).
